Halloween Project #5

Hi all
Time for another card!!  Or is it a treat container?  it's both!!!

When you pull out the tag, the candies fall out of the hole in the back.  I know, 'cause I dropped mine several times!!

Halloween Project #4

Hi all
Today I am sharing another treat container from my class.
This is a very simply decorated milk carton using out milk carton die for the Big Shot.  Again, this is the kind of treat to use when you have a lot to make and not much time  .The wiggle eyes really make this pop!!  Simple!

Halloween Project #3

Hi all
Another card from Sunday's Halloween class.
For this card, I ran the vellum cardstock through the Big Shot in the Spider web folder.  The spider is a non-SU spider punch - I could not resist him - he looked so real!!!  The greeting is on one of the new label punches.  the trick here is to put the spider and the greeting on the vellum, using dimensionals and the to put adhesive behind those two items in order to stick the vellum to the layers of cardstock below.  That way, the spider and the label hide the adhesive which is hard to keep from showing through to the front.
Hope you like it!!!

I'd love it if you'd leave a comment!

Halloween Project #2

Hi all
Today I am sharing one of the little treat containers we made on Sunday.  This is really quick and easy!  It uses the new candy wrapper die for the Big Shot but we flattened the one end so that the container could stand on end.  The eyes are commercially available at craft stores and the mouth is made from a retired snow man punch - we used the bottom snowball.  The ribbon is black 1/8" taffeta.  Great project if you need to make lots of great treats for co-workers or your children's friends.

Halloween Projects, #1

Hi all
Sorry to be "missing in action" for a few days ...but "in action" I was!!!  Wednesday night was a band booster/practice night where we had to move the pit equipment back and forth to the practice field, then we checked and fixed all the uniforms.  We had to reach up to the one shoulder of the jacket and snap and button - it can be tricky, especially when the uniforms are hanging on the storage racks - once again I am reminded just how short I am!!!  Friday night  I was part of the field crew for the football game performance.  Yesterday was UNBELIEVABLE - here I am at 50+ pushing a wooden cart full of a 36" in diameter gong on a stand, a 36" drum and stand, several music stands, 3 rain sticks, and a vibraphone up a very steep hill and across the property of Westminster High School.  I got re-acquainted with muscles I forgot I have!!!  This activity is either keeping me young or putting me in an early grave!!  Thank heaven TODAY was a stampin day!!! Whoo hoo!!

I want to give a shout out to Beth, Kittie and Kristen who came to my class for the first time today.  We love to have new gals join us to play. Hope they had fun and will join us again soon.
Here is my special card for today:

Now this may not seem so special to you but did you notice my fence at the bottom of the card?  Guess how it was done?  It is the candleabra from the Wicked Cool set.  We inked the stamp, except for the foot of the candleabra, and stamped it upside down.  With the help of the stamp a ma jig, we were able to stamp it repeatedly and connect each time.  When I finally got a chance to stamp this idea, I was so excited because it looked exactly like the spooky fence I had imagined.  Fun!!!
I'm headed off to bed now ...come back to see the other 7 projects we made today!!

Just /Believe, project 3

Hi all
I think we all love the Big Shot and the top note die so when I saw a variation of this card I had to whip one up.  I used markers to color the stamp because the flowers are so embedded in the stems and leaves.  The use of the markers gives it a watercolored look.  Only the top note part lifts up so you can see the greeting inside.  Nifty!
I tweaked this after seeing one by Lynn Pratt.

Just /Believe, project 2

Hi all,
As promised, I have another Just Believe project for you......
This monochromatic card is accented with Stampin' Up's new Basic Pearl Jewels on several of the flowers - they give the image a softer look.  The so saffron ribbon is some that  SU gave away during SAB a year or so ago.  I love it!  Remember ...card making doesn't have to be a time consuming process.  Here a single color of cardstock and ink together make a lovely silhouette look.  Go try making one now!

Remember  also that you need to register by Thursday, September 23rd if you plan to attend my Halloween Cards and Treats class to be held on Sunday, 9-26 at 2PM.

Hope to hear from you!!

Just /Believe, project 1

Hi all
Did you miss today's stampin session?  Bummer!  Well today I am sharing our first project...

This is another example of faux layering.  All of the vanilla cardstock is the same piece - the two green strips are just that...strips layered on the vanilla..... the old olive c/s is not a full layer under the circles.  This is a great way to save on postage - by lightening the weight of the over all project. The layout was inspired by a card I saw made by Lynn Mango.
Hope you like it ...more to follow each day this week.
Reminder....you need to register by Thursday, September 23rd if you plan to attend my Halloween Cards and Treats class to be held on Sunday, 9-26 at 2PM.

Holiday/Christmas Card Stamp a Stack, Part one, 2010, project 5

Hi folks!!
This card was inspired by Dawn Griffith.  When she made her card, she folded both the front piece of cardstock and the back piece in a similar (but opposite) manner.  I thought I could pretty up the appearance of the card by keeping the back piece of cardstock flat, so that the extra length of cardstock could be used to wrap around the sides of the main piece.  I used the border punch on both ends so when they were folded forward it would make a nice edging.  I love it!!  On the right is an overhead view of the fold.

Peaceful Season, whisper white and wild wasabi c/s, marina mist pad, scallop border punch, Big Shot, Elegant lines textured impressions folder, Sizzix/ non- SU window die cut mover and shaper, silver cording

Holiday/Christmas Card Stamp a Stack, Part one, 2010, project 3

Hi all!
I hope you peaked at yesterdays post because it is related to this post.

This card was inspired by the Howell's and Sizzix.   Have you already guessed that the tree is the "left over" from the card I posted yesterday?  Recycling!!!  When I saw the pile of pink trees stacking up I realized I was going to have to use them on another card - how could I throw them away??  So I ran them through my Petals a Plenty textured impressions folder (I was able to do three, side by side, at a time) then sponged the edges and colored the dots with my marker.  Layered it on a Two tags die cut - I usually use that tag with the scallop at the top but it looked like a tree skirt to me so I put the scallops at the bottom of the tag.
Products: All Holidays (words), c/s: pink pirouette, cherry cobbler, old olive, silver metallic; Jolly Holiday DSP, Old Olive pad, daffodil delight marker, two tags die, petals a plenty textured impressions folder, movers and shapers non-SU tree die cut, star punch, big shot, sponge.

Holiday/Christmas Card Stamp a Stack, Part one, 2010, project 2

Hi stampers.
This card was inspired by a project I saw on the Sizzix website.  The cut out tree on the left side was made using a mover and shaper die from Sizzix (non-SU!) Of course the ornament on the left (and inside the card) was made using the hand held ornament punch and layered on a SU!  mover and shaper ornament die cut.
Here is the inside of the card...

Products:  Season of Joy, Word Play, Pink Pirouette c/s, Garden Green c/s and pad, Candy Cane DSP, Copper c/s (retired), Star punch (non-SU), Ornament punch and Mover and shaper ornament die, Sizzix Tree mover and shaper die (Non-SU), Big Shot

Holiday/Christmas Card Stamp a Stack, Part one 2010

Hi Stampers
I am beginning to post the projects from the first of my four stamp a stack classes for this holiday season.  We had a nice afternoon of conversation and stamping and I want to give a shout out to Stacy, a first timer at my classes.  Hope you will join us again sometime soon.

This card has a small section folded up from the bottom which can be used to insert a treat or a gift card.  You might see there is a extra score line in the top section - that was because at the last minute I made a shift in the card to lower the punched segment.  When the ladies did their cards, they actually had a third layer of punched white cardstock.  Looked great!

Treats for staff at my other school

When I first saw the new Stampin' Up! owl punch (118074), I knew I had to share it with my co-workers at one of my schools.  The school mascot is the owl.
I die cut (Big Shot, 113439) the bookmarks using the two tags die (115954) by folding the cardstock and placing it just inside the cut line at one end of the image.  By doing that, when I ran the die through the cutter, I ended up with a folded tag.  I attached the punched scallop circle to the front and then the owl.  Two small pieces of magnet attached inside the bookmark allow the flaps to attach to each other over the pages of the book.  The trick to placing the magnets is to stick a piece of magnet to the inside of the folded tag.  Then the second magnet is attached to the first one and the strip is removed from the back to expose the sticky - when you close the tag the sticky attaches to the flap so the magnets are aligned.  Fun and easy!

Sweet Sixteen Memory Folder

Hi all
This is a folder I made for my younger son to take to a sweet sixteen birthday party for a girl from his marching band.  She had all the kids come wearing pink or zebra stripes - he actually wore a pink tie!!  I really couldn't wrap my head around the idea of making something with zebra print so I went with pink instead.  I was touched that John assumed I would make the card for his gift - my kids know my gig!  The idea of this folder is that she can put a sweet sixteen photo on the front (the flowers are mounted in a way that will allow her to tuck the edges of a picture underneath).

Inside she can add another photo/s on the left side and tuck momentos into the pocket on the right side.  I added the little envelope to the right side so we had a place to hold the cash gift.

On the left side there is another pocket with a slider that can be pulled out.  Additional pictures or journaling
can be added to the front and back of the cardstock.
I had to make an envelope to hold the folder - I used a 12 x 12 piece of plain pink DSP to make it.  After I took the picture, I decided to make the envelope reusable (to store the folder) so I added two rose red circles of cardstock (each had a pink heart layered on it) with a brad through each center with a thin piece of  ribbon tied to one brad.  One of the circles was added to the flap and the other was added to the envelop body so she can wrap the ribbon from one circle to the other to close it.  Sure hope she liked it..apparently she didn't open it at the party so John didn't either.

Stampin' Up! stampin' Santa fun!!!

Hi Stampers!!!
Sure hope my silly Santa gives you a smile today!!  The base of this treat box is the new candy wrapper die from the Holiday mini catalog.

When I die cut the box, I didn't cut out the entire design because I wanted to close one end of the box flat so the box could stand vertically on end - I eliminated the twisty part by placing the cardstock just inside the diamond cut.  On the top end, I  also left off the twisty part and folded in only three of the four flaps to close the box.   I stamped the Santa face (from the Holiday Hoopla set ) on white cardstock and then attached it to the fourth flap which is sticking up straight behind the face.  I diddled with the hat and decided it looked best stamped in black ink on the real red cardstock.  The white design is embossed using versamark and white embossing powder.  The glitter on the head is the chunky white glitter and then I used a marker to highlight the face.  I punched out a 1/2" black cardstock circle and then cut it in half for the feet.   They are attached with dimensionals, as is the face.  The Santa suit that is stamped in red on the front of the box is from the Tags til Christmas set.  I used a black marker to color the belt and a gold pen to highlight the buckle.
Cute, huh?
