grad cards

Hi all!!
I'm back!! Today I had a fun day prepping cards for tomorrow's class. I'm going to start posting them tonight and the rest will come through during the week. Check back daily to see the rest of them.

This card attracted me because it make me think of the tree of knowledge ...simple but appropriate for a graduate about to start the major journey of their life. It was tweaked from a card posted on one of my groups but I realize now the print out did not include the artist' name ..rats!! Her card was square and used a diagonal stripe and some jute. Thanks for the inspiration.

This is posting on Sunday - the last day to take advantage of the buy 3 get one free DSP special. What is really cool about this special is that you can buy three packs at 9.95 each and get a pack at 11.95 free. great deal.
I still wish yo'al would join me as demos ( whether you ever actually demo or not! - Maybe you just want the discount or the publications or the access to the demo side of the website) What ever your reason, only $75 get all these perks for you - but YOU MUST MUST MUST ACT TODAY!!!!!!!!!! You can sign up directly through my website. Contact me.

Is she gone again??

Hi all
No, I am not gone!! I am just absolutely swamped with end of the school year stuff - assessment reports (my schools are still getting permission for me to test but I have to be done in the next 11 days - I usually have 60-90 days to do testing! ach!), and progress reports (only about 40!) and all the while still seeing all my students. I have been very involved in compiling a memory book for a coworker who is retiring after about 30 years of service at the same school. Wow! I have asked my coworkers to each make a memory page to put in a book for this great lady - wow! is it fun to see what folks come up with. Of course, the best pages are ones that include the comments or drawings by the students - sooo funny! I worked with some ladies to make about 60 "favors" for the dinner on Friday night. Next, I have to compile a smaller memory book for another coworker who is transferring to another school after her position was cut in half. Then the final project is to make favors for a combination baby/wedding shower (two different ladies) - then I think I will be able to pack up my stuff and bring it home for the summer! whew - no wonder I am tired. Tonight I went to a meeting about a graduate class I am taking this summer - we were told which two books we are supposed to read ...before the class begins on the 22nd! Luckily the books look great so I am eager to read them! I am still working up the projects for my grads and congrats class this Sunday. Yep! I have been a busy bee. I'll post some new pics soon! Thanks for your patience. Don't forget to order your designer paper before the 31st - buy 3 get one free. And if you have finally climbed off the fence and decided to join me in my stampin fun, get your demo starter kit NOW while the fee is ONLY $75!!
One last thought..John really liked his drum birthday card - he even saved it! - high praise from a 16 year old, I think!
Nighty night.

16th birthday pop up

Hi all,
Tonight I am sharing my first Sizzix die pop up cake!! This is a card I made tonight for my son, John, who turns 16 Sunday. He is a drummer and so I tried to make the cake look like a stack of snare drums (the drum he plays). I thought it turned out well for a first attempt. I'll try to remember to let you know what his reaction is when I give it to him later!

DAD cd holder card

Hi all
Tonight I am posting the last of the projects from my stampin session last Sunday. This is a CD Holder (I have more blank holders if anyone is interested in getting some) made into a greeting card. The cover uses chipboard letters which were die cut using the Serif Essentials dies. The let inside uses die cut parenthesis (Sizzix die) and a retired Journal Fun stamp (lines). Inside the pocket is a large scallop circle meant for pictures or journaling. On the right side is a little tag pocket to hold money, a gift card or tickets. I think this is a really cool project when you want to share more than sweet greetings.

repeat chef

Hi all
Tonight I am reposting the beer chef card - I hope these are a little clearer for those of you who are not familar with the side step card. I think the side view makes is more obvious how it is assembled.
Love it!

Daddy's car

Hi all
This silly little card is meant to be given by a child for Father's Day although Beth suggested it might be a fun Birthday card for a child too. I saw a chipboard car at a local craft store and thought it was just too cute!! The windows of the car are made using the inside portion of the scallop oval frame die. I used the small oval punch to make the headlights and tail lights. I think it is really cute!

Western Card

Hi all,
Tonight I am sharing the masculine western card we made on Sunday. When you open this card the medallion stays in the inside. Of course, this card uses the scallop die and the pennant die (for the smaller scallop). I saw a similar card on the internet but had to add the bullet holes to the greeting on the bottom. Love the way the star is attached - it doesn't show in the picture but the star is made from brushed silver cardstock and has really rust ink sponged on the edges.

Hi all,

Here is Peggy D's lovely Fantasy box. I think we all got caught up in how fun this little project was to assemble.
If you would like to make this project with your friends, contact me and I'll set up a repeat session.

Hi all,
Tonight I am sharing the Fantasy boxes made by Beth and Carol. Although these friends choose their papers separately, their choices were quite similar. How funny! I have shown both since they are similar. This is a fabulous gift for people - especially guys- who like mechanical things. They are fascinated by how the boxes all stack up on top of each other. Stay tuned to see another version of the Fantasy box tomorrow.

thank you volunteers

Hi all, Tonight I am sharing some projects with you that I made for one of my schools to give to their 70 volunteers. Since the school works on a tight budget, I made the apron pockets out of thin scrapbooking paper from a local chain store - inside the pocket is a packet of seeds. Night Night Peggy

three cheers for beer

Hi all,
Sometimes I marvel at how I end a project, knowing where I started!! This is one of those cards that started out one way and ended up somewhere else...but I like it....it makes me giggle.
The voila' chef combined with the Comfort Food (H) popcorn and the Cheers to You beer and words (stamped on a die cut medallion from the matchbox die) mounted on a side step card make for a little fun. I pulled out the retired Brushstroke Alphabet for the letters.
Hope you like this too!! Thanks to my California Udderly Awesome friend, Yvonne, for sharing the side step card template. I tweaked the measurements a bit because I wanted the arm of the chef to be in the air. Play on!!!

pop up gift card

Hi all,
Tonight I thought I would share with you a gift card I made for one of my friends/customers. Her very generous son contacted me a week or so ago and asked for a gift certificate for his mom for Mother's Day. The actual gift certificate is the ticket attached to the pull up part of the card - up near the ribbon. The card is given flat - the picture that shows the flat blue flower. When you pull up on the ribbon, the card folds in the center and reveals the greeting and the ticket shows at the top. One of the pictures shows the ticket off the card - there was another greeting stamped under where the ticket was stored. I included the butterfly because they are a favorite of Terry's. I think it turned out well!

Guest card holder #4

Hi all
Here is the final guest card holder project. Jeanne is new to this craft but you cannot tell it by her lovely project. She added a special touch by punching the corners of her envelope holder with a retired corner punch. I suggested she flip the corner to get that lovely step effect showing clearly. Lovely!!

guest card holder #2

Hi all
Here is Terry's lovely card holder. She told us she is currently hooked on the green and blue combo and didn't she make a great choice of DSP and cardstock. Her creative urge popp up with the sprinkle of punched flowers on her postage stamp envelope. I neglected to get a shot of her cards OUT of the holder - it was kinda late when we finished up so I will plea sleepiness.

guest card holder #1

Hi all
Thought you would enjoy seeing the projects my ladies made last night at our class. Each lady got to choose the DSP she wanted and she selected coordinating cardstock and ribbon. I really wanted to give the ladies a way to make the basic folder from one sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock so their inside pocket was actually a small pocket cut in half and attached on each side - the envelopes are secure even though there is a small gap between the corner pockets. In this picture, Peggy does not have her notebook attached (it is in the pocket with the envelopes) as she wanted to attach hers in a temporary way - using a velcro dot. Isn't her project lovely? But heck! she is a wonderful stamper!!
Stay tuned for other samples from the ladies on upcoming days.

card holder final

Hi all
Tonight I have the final pictures of the project we will be making at class tomorrow night.
For some reason I can never get the pictures to show in the order I want them to so hopefully you can figure out that there is a picture of the inside of the holder - complete with a notepad, pen, and envelope for postage stamps, as well as a pocket for the envelopes. There is another picture of the cards sitting in front of the holder and the third picture is of the holder with the cards in the pocket. There are several versions of this project on the internet but I tweaked the bidea a bit - I was aiming for a way that efficiently used the materials.
If you won't be with us tomorrow night you will miss a great project - nice layout for a gift. Each of the gals will me making her own version as I am letting them choose from a variety of DSP's. I hope to take pictures of their projects to post here in the next few days.

umbrella

Hi all
I wish you were here with me just now because you would hear me laughing in delight! I think most of my stampin gals know that I do not take credit for other people's ideas. When they compliment me on a project, I will say "I got the idea from xxx" or "I tweaked someone's idea" but tonight I think I have a novel idea - I have not seen anything like it elsewhere and it is the very simpliest idea ever!!!! For this project I used a scallop circle diecut. The idea came to me when I was asked for ideas for a combo shower to be held at work (school) for two gals - one is getting married and the other just had a baby. Now what theme would work for both - well since they are both showers I thought we could make umbrella's. For the shaft of the umbrella I used a Bogdon's Reception stick (aren't they the yummiest!!!) I simply cut in from the edge to the center of the scallop circle and then overlapped the parts on either side of the cut by 6 bumps and adhered with snail. The candy has a mini glue dot on the very end to stick it to the circle center. I think this is soooo neat!! ...if I do say so myself!!!!
Now I spent the evening watching the biggest loser (sure hope Helen wins) and flipping over to Dancing with the Stars to see who got kicked off ( WOW! Little Kim!) and working on a secret project which I cannot show you until next week. I am pleased with it too but sorry you'll have to wait to see it!!

card holder class

Hi Stampers
Tonight I have a sneak peak of the card holder we will make at my stampin class on Friday, May 8th at 7PM. This view shows the pocket on the outside (there is one on each side) which holds the cards. Inside there is another pocket for the envelopes and a die cut scallop envelope to hold stamps (postage stamps, that is!!). I am looking for a pen to insert inside and another element as well...more about that another day. I hope you will join us. At this point I plan for each person to use a different set of DSP and cardstock so we can find out which colors and papers create different moods for different situations. You may remember we did that at the recipe tin class too. My cards are not finished yet but you can see a portion of one of them sitting on the right.
Remember to take a look at my Stampin Up! website for details about the three, that's right THREE May specials: reduced price on a sneak peak alphabet stamp set from the upcoming catalog, buy 3 and get one free on DSP and textured c/s, and Oh my gosh! a $75 demonstrator starter kit. There has never been a better time to sign on with me!

really cool fold

Hi all,
Today my Stampin' Up! convention buddy, Linda from New Jersey, posted a neat card on her blog (http://mycreativepossibilities.blogspot.com/) and I just had to give it a try. I have always been a sucker for neat folds and this one is soooo much easier than it looks. Isn't that the best? A neat idea that is easy to do!!! I am going to post the card front, the inside, and an aerial view to show you the actual folds. Hope you like it!!

If you are in Perry Hall, join me on FRIDAY night for a stampin' session to make a nifty holder with cards. Check out my website for details (peggyouten.stampinup.net).

where did she go?

Hi all - I haven't disappeared! This week has been extra busy because my son, John, had two school band performances... both of which lasted several hours! In fact, Thursday night we got to school at 6:30 and did not leave there til 10PM ...long night... but it was wonderful!! I am so proud of the music these kids produce - absolutely wonderful!
Have to get up at the crack of dawn on Saturday to be a vendor at a local fair - sure hope the rain stops because my paper crafts are not going to hold up well in the rain!!
Come back again soon to see some new projects!!
