Cheep Talk/Good Morning Sunshine project # 6

Hi all

This is the last of the six cards we made at the card tin class. I love the simplicity of this card - and also, it fits in a bill paying envelope. This card hinges at the top.
None of the gals in class could explain the pear being part of this set although it was suggested it had something to do with a partridge in a pear tree. Me? I don't know what the connection is but I do like the fresh look of the pear!

Cheep Talk/Good Morning Sunshine project #5

Hi all
This may be my favorite card from the Cheep Talk class. I love the way the scallop half circle looks like the sun rising. This card was inspired by one made by Kathleen Svihel which was posted on the demo side of the Stampin' Up website.

Cheep Talk/Good Morning Sunshine project #4

Hi all,

This great card was inspired by one posted on the demonstrator side of the Stampin' Up! website...it was submitted by Erin Blair. The gals at my class really got a work out with the stamp a ma jig - but it is such a great tool to have around!

Hi all
I was just taking a peak at my blog and wondering what I could do to make it more attractive and useful to you. But rather than guess what you are wanting, I thought it best to ask you, what do you want to see on here? Are you getting what you want and need from my site? I see some demos are loading up their blogs with tons of advertising, and I have tried to tone that down here, feeling it sometimes gets to be just too pushy!!. But maybe you would like to have more reminders about the Stampin' Up! specials and deadlines (like the fact that the current catalog and the last chance specials end on Tuesday - OMG! - and the new caty starts at noon MT on Wednesday!! It is fabulous!!!)? Do you prefer the close up individual pictures or the group project photos? Let me know. If you are not comfortable or able to leave your thoughts on my comments section here, you can always email me at david.outen@verizon.net or better yet, call me and chat - 410-256-6772 (I'd love a distraction from doing my brain class homework!!)
By the way - don't worry - there will be a project posted at 5 Pm Eastern time today.
Hey!! if you see my sister wish her a happy birthday - it was a milestone she passed on thursday. We are celebrating with a red velvet cake today (which actually would have been my dad's 86th birthday.) Let me hear from you..let's do lunch!!
Not nighty night yet!

Cheep Talk/Good Morning Sunshine Project #3

Hi all
I'm not crazy about this version of the Good Morning Sunshine DSP - but the focus on the little birdie really tones down the brown for me. Another cheerful birdie card!!

CHeep Talk/ Good Morning Sunshine Project #2

Hi all

When we did the Cheep Talk Tin class it was hard to make a card that didn't include the adorable little birds but this one was eye catching without the birdies. I think the word window is a neat feature.

Cheep Talk/Good Morning Sunshine, project 1

Hi all
I found this card on the demonstrator side of the Stampin Up! website. It was submitted by Wendy Fee and seemed to be so very cheerful that I knew my gals would love it. I changed some of the colors a bit but isn't it great?!

Father's Day 2009

Hi all

Although my own Dad passed away a long time ago (more than 35 years ago now -big loss for me) and I did not need to make him a father's day card, I did want my husband to have a card from the boys. I made this one. (Davy, John and I are the three little birds on the right!) I really like the shutter card but all the measurements get a little tricky when you try to layer without making each piece separate so I compromised a bit and separated in two spots. You cannot tell from the picture but the papers are the retiring Taste of textiles - copper and the lightly striped. All the images are embossed in copper ep. When my husband looked at it he said, "I have to admit, you are really good at this." High praise from him. I like the elegant feel of the card and I especially enjoyed using the letters which I recently earned from SU! Dave is not into sports, so coming up with a theme can be tricky!!

Big Shot Project # 6

Hi all, This is the last project from the Big Shot Bonanza class. Can you tell that we used four of the scallop envelope die cuts? I cut the four full envelopes in different colored cardstock. Then I cut parts of the envelope, four times, from designer papers - leaving off the tabs on the sides. These were glued over the envelopes with the side tabs folded in but the bottom flap not folded in. The pink tags go into each pocket and the little punches are embellishing the fronts of the pockets. Two large eyelets hold the four segments together. This would make a great gift for a loved one - with money, gift cards, tickets, or personal notes in each pocket. Thanks to Stampingbliss for this great idea.

Big Shot Bonanza Project #5

Hi all'
Isn't this a great project? This chest of drawers is made from six matchboxes and two top note die cuts. Imagine how fabulous this would be with embellishments added on top and some neat pulls on the drawers! Think the boxes are too small to hold a gift? nah!! When my gift is bigger than the box, I stash the gift and insert a clue in the box - make them guess what the gift is or where it is hidden! You could insert inspirational words in each box or bible references. Use your imagination!!

Big Shot Project #4

Hi all,
I designed this booklet to hold pictures of your loved ones. I love to carry little books like this with pictures of my family when I travel to convention (soon!!). The frame of the booklet is made using the main section of the bag with scallops die. I scored and folded the base of the main section 5 times to create hills and valleys where the pages were inserted. I really love the way the letters in LOVE are tabbed so you see a different letter on each page. (Yes, that set is retired!!) You slip a picture in behind the punched hole. Love it! Each page was made with a folded piece of cardstock so when you put the picture in, it won't slide out. There was a trick with the heart punch - that folded piece of cardstock had to have the fold at the top because you cannot use the heart punch with the fold at the bottom - if you do, when you punch, it ends up upside down. Big Shot Bonanza Project #3

Hi all,
For this adorable little double-sided carrier, we used two of the Box # 2 die cuts (shown on the left in kraft c/s). We assembled two of them in tangerine tango c/s and put them back to back. The trick with this project is not to crease the two folds of the lid. If you crease them, the handle will not stand up well. By putting the DSP on each face of the box you help conseal that it is two boxes back to back. We tied the knot in both the front and the back of the box. Cutie, huh?

Big Shot Project #2

Hi all,
This project uses two of the end cuts of the baskets and blooms die. Instead of putting the two die cuts together to form a little round treat holder, I used an additional piece of straight cardstock in the center to make the basket bigger. Actually you could make this little basket big enough to hold a small loaf, just by making the center piece wider. Thanks Connie Babbert for this idea.

Big Shot Bonanza Project #1

Hi all
The class last Sunday was a little different than usual class because I did not focus the projects on their embellishments but instead on the construction. The idea was to explore what you can do with a die cut that is different than what you might expect at first glance. The top note die is amazing - there is so much you can do with it! This project uses two of the top note die cuts and a white mini bag (several inches of the top of the bag were cut off). This would be a great little treat bag or party favor. How would you embellish it?

Contest submission

Hi all,

Tonight I am sharing some pictures of a project I recently submitted to a Stampin' Up! contest - but alas, I did not win...waaaa! I have taught the Fantasy Box to several classes over the years. But recently I decided to tweak the project a bit - instead of using the hand-folded square boxes, I decided to use the fabulous new matchbox die cuts instead!!! I thought that was a great idea! I had to reconfigure the base of the box because the matchbox is rectangular, not square. Also this box is different in that instead of having stair step square boxes, I had to put two of the matchboxes on each of the wide panels. The boxes still interlock when you close the box. I love it...hope you do too!

Flashback to the past!!!

Hi all!
Yep! this is a flashback to the past! Patti asked me to pull this baby out of the dust bunnies (at least I hope this is the one she was asking about) and give her some of the specs so she can make it again. This is a card we made at class on 4-4-07 - a long time ago! Good memory, Patti !!
The only orange base is 6 x 6, the white glossy c/s is 5 3/4 x 11 1/2 (fold in half to form 5 3/4 square). The transparency is 5 3/4 square.
Stamp six only orange petals around the center of the glossy white c/s - be sure to let them dry thoroughly before you lay the transparency on it.
Use stazon black ink and stamp the six open petals on the transparency around the flower - spacing them between the orange petals. Stamp the only orange solid circle on glossy white cardstock and cut or punch out. Attach the transparency to the white c/s, putting adhesive in the center only. Then attach the white circle on top of the transparency. Hope this is the one you were looking for, Patti. Have to admit, people laugh at my "system" for keeping my projects organized but it does help me dig out the "oldies but goodies" when they are needed. Stamp on!!!

Patriotic Projects #6

Hi all
Well this is the last project from the 6-7-09 stampin session. It is a big project!!! This "Liberty" Banner is made using the small and large pennant die cuts. Why use both sizes? Well, in part because it makes more conservative use of your cardstock. Plus I think using the two different sizes is somewhat more interesting for the eye than having all of them the same size. Of course, the letters are the serif alphabet die cuts and each letter has a scallop die behind it cut from desinger paper. This does use a lot of cardstock but if you store it carefully it is reusable for Memorial Day, Labor Day as well as the Fourth of July. I am leaving mine up for a while - it cheers me each time I see it.

Patriotic project #5

Hi all
Summer, summer, summer, summer (I'm singing, can you hear me?)
This sweet treat is a lollipop made using the Daisy #2 die cuts and a scallop circle on the bottom. A quick treat ...but wouldn't it look fabulous in a bunch - switching the colors around to make a beautiful bouquet. Stick them in a styrofoam base in a basket and your Fourth of July table looks wonderful and IT WON'T MELT!!

Patriotic Projects # 4

Hi all
I am posting this project to appear on Friday, June 12th - a red letter day here in my world. This is the last day of school for the 08-09 school year (a stressful one in several ways). Then, it is the day we can stop hearing those ENDLESS announcements about the "change of TV to a digital format" - oh heaven!!! - it is on the TV as I type this!! - aaauuugggghhh! I am haunted!
This project was made using the SUP/Sizzix matchbox die and the curly label hand held punch. I saw the star clip at the dollar store - it is metal and is meant to keep the corner of your picnic tablecloth down in the breeze but I had to have them. I thought it would be a fun gift tag - of course I had to pull out my old Stazon ink pads to stamp the words, number, and crab. Now the really nutty part of this project was that I had the gals put tic tacs in the box. I wanted some color in the candies so I got some Wilton candy embellishments. BUT the bag also included green, yellow and purple ones so I had to pick them out with a spoon - tedious - but heck! I love my craft and want my projects to gel well. I like it - hope you do too!!
Oh - and the very Very VERY best part of June 12th - my SUP! catalog, SUP! sneak peak products, and my two free stamp sets (well, one of them, at least) are due to arrive here today!!! If you call me tonight, I'll have to use my headset phone so I can have two hands free to flip through my new catalog. Want a new catalog too- contact me!! If you commit to the new catalog by June 15th, it will only cost $5 ...some of you gals will be gatting one from me FREE for being frequent flyers at my stampin sessions. I love you gals!!

Patriotic projects #3

Hi, All
Here is another great card from the patriotic project stampin session. I have to admit, this fold was a bit of a challenge for me to cut - mostly because I added a flap to hide the back of the brads and ribbon ends. When I went to use my coluzzle, I cut in the wrong direction twice..so frustrating. But gee! it is a great card that I tweaked from the demo side of the Stampin' Up! website - contributed by someone named Donna Johnson..... is she talented or what?

Patriotic projects, pt 2

Hi all
I love the feel of this card - the strong eagle image, the texture of the brads and ribbon, and the state of mind, Honor. The gals at the patriotic stampin session got to find out just how useful the Stamp-a-ma-jig can be as they stamped the letters. The SAMJ can give you nice straight letters that most of us cannot achieve just by eyeing it.
Great session...lovely ladies! It was fun to see our old bud, Donna, again.

Patriot projects, #1

Hi all,
Sometimes you want to stamp a card and you don't have the exact image you want to fit the occasion. This card is meant to show you how with some stars, some letters, and some striped DSP, you can create the situation specific card to fit your patriotic ocassion. The letters are from the Go GO Boots dies and are given a little sparkle with Stickles. Boo hoo! good bye Riding Hood Red!!

grad card #7

Hi all
I think this was my favorite card of the bunch - the class is actually using handsome hunter for the words - I mistakenly used always artichoke and the words don't show up so well. I love the texture of this card - the die cut leave, the jumbo eyelet and the knotted ribbon. This is my own design - guess that is why it is my favorite of the bunch. Nothing like discovering a nice design to lift the spirits. Must be why I love stampin soo much.'

grad card #6

Hi all
This card has several different names but mostly folks seem to be calling it an accordian card. The colors in the picture are a bit distorted - pacific point and tangerine tango. The gal who did the original version had a different design in the back section - she used the seal from a particular school - looked really great.

grad card #4

Hi all
Isn't this a neat little card? Doesn't everyone want to win the blue ribbon? These colors (Night of Navy and Summer Sun) seem to be popular school colors. I saw this on Glenda Calkins blog - tweaked it a bit - added the scallop edge across the middle and the ribbon and changed the brads to gold not white. Love it!!

grad card #3

Hi all
Here is a great little card called a tent card. I recently learned to make it ...kewl, huh? I think it is perfect for a mortarboard card but you should give it a try for some other designs as well - really nice!!!
I made the tassel myself from DMC floss - really easy to do!
I like the colors of this card - Calvert Hall colors (a local high school that my brother, father and uncle attended - and I worked there too - my first job as a teenager...five summers!).

just a note

Hi all! I am still buried up to my neck in end of the year work but I wanted to tell you to go to my Stampin' Up! website and check out the last chance list (retiring items) some of which are reduced in price. The accessories are on a limited supply basis and Stampin Up will be updating the list daily. I would not delay if you want any of those goodies - especially the ones with reduced prices. Blink your eyes and they could be gone. I have some great posts for you this week and a few more to add to the queue if I can get a minute to load them.
We are having a stampin session this coming Sunday - contact me to reserve your seat!! the topic is patriotic cards but as always, a change of the greeting and they could just as well work for birthday, etc.

grad card #2

Hi all
One of my gals asked for a brilliant blue card so here it is - simple in design and perfect to include a check or bill or even a gift card. The gals at my class were offered a chance to use the word window punch to make a slot inside for a gift card. Thanks to Brenda Taylor for the idea - I worked the ribbon a bit higher and changed the colors but the original idea was hers. I love the sharing of ideas from my fellow demos.
