Fun fun fun card!!!!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!!!
I am sitting here with the gals as they stamp... stamp... stamp...some guy projects.  Thought I would take a minute while no one needs help to show you a really fun card from a former class!!

I am a big fan of the 3D treat cups and I happened to have these cute little candies available - thought they looked like gumballs.  This sweet set (Something Sweet)  is retiring on the 31st so it was fun to get one last use out of it before it goes bye-bye!  (It will be one of my personal items up for sale on the 1st of June).
Let's look inside.....

You can see that I covered the back of the opening on the cup with a piece of transparency.  You cannot see that I used the perforator from the cutter kit to score an "x" on the transparency.   I wanted to be able to see through the cup to the inside of the card AND I wanted the recipient to be able to get at those candies. The perforations will allow them access without tearing apart the card.  The colorful circles on the DSP is a great echo to the balls in the cup!  Placing the greeting low in the card kept if from being visible when you look through the cup.
Did you happen to notice my innovation?  I am proud of this fun little element.

We stamped the "Happy Birthday" greeting on a narrow strip of white cardstock and then used a quilling tool to roll it up.  The end was tucked into a hole that had been punched where the gumball would usually roll out.  Such a fun surprise card!   Love it!!!

Remember if you need a particular single color of SU marker, get them now because once the new catalog starts you will only be able to get 13 colors singly (Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Certainly Celery, Marina Mist, Razzleberry), the rest of the colors will only be available in color family packs.

Hope you enjoyed this fun little card!!
Be safe this weekend..there are some crazy people out there!!

hello all
I told you all I would share the 30 favors I made for a coworker's baby shower which was held last Monday.  Well I tried to do it last night but could not get my computer or camera to cooperate but I think I have manage to snatch one shot for tonight.

I used the little purse die for the box (minus the lid and handle) and attached the scalloped square blankie to the front of the box.  The teddy bear was made from a sizixx die which I have had for a long time.  I think it turned out well.  Cute bear and blankie!!
I'll wrestle some more with my computer and try to show you a few more shots - all the blankets were different as I dipped into my retired designer series paper to make them.

Girly cards, cards, cards!! 7 of 7

Hi all
Today I want to share the last card from the girly card class.   This one is very special.

You probably can barely see the special feature of this card so I will explain that it is a gift card holder.  But what makes it unique is that there is a tear off strip near the top of the card (where the Happy Birthday is).  See the green strip on the left side of the card -  if you pull it across the card, it will tear open a path across the front cover of the card to expose a gift card inside.
It was a fun and special card for the gals.   The next class (Sunday, May27th) is the guy project class.  Registration ends Thursday May 24th (my son's birthday!) so contact me if you want to attend.

quilling for cards

Hi all
Sorry to be so infrequent in posting of late.  Between the broken foot, the zillions of treats I have been making for events at my schools, some shower favors and a baby gift,  and prepping my progress reports, there just hasn't been much free time!!  At least i was able to prep for my birthday card class last Sunday.  I will be sharing those cards soon too.
I do have a great card for you to see....

I was very happy with the way this card turned out - I don't have a lot of experience with quilling but these flowers turned out great!!! Don't you agree?  Love it!!

If you are interested in getting a new Stampin' Up! catalog from me, be sure to drop me an email or call.

In answer to those who have inquired, I will be selling my recently retired items after June 1st.  Stay tuned for details.  In the meantime, if there is a particular item you are looking for, drop me a line and I will check my inventory.

Big news!!

Hi all
Thanks to all my friends for your words of support and acts of kindness while I have been dealing with my bum foot!  Good news!  The doctor said my foot is healing well and if I am careful and wear a good supportive shoe, I do not have to continue to wear the boot!  If I wasn't being so careful to avoid another injury, I would jump up and click my heels.  A wise friend who recently went through the same thing has advised me that I should be ready to don the boot if the hard school floors take their toll on my foot.  The boot is in the car and ready to do its' thing if necessary.

Here is another project for you.....

This bouquet went together rather easily.  The tangerine segment is the five petal star flower; the "leaves" are from a sizzix die.
The hardest part of the project was getting the flowers attached to the sticks so they could be poked into the styrofoam in the watering cans.  A glob of hot glue on the back of the flower and some careful up side down placement did the trick.
I have posted two new classes on my events calendar on my Stampin' Up! website...check them out!

Volunteer tree treats

Hi all
Another day of treat making yielded these treats.

My school has been working on attaining "Green School" status.  So when it was time to plan the volunteer appreciation event, the committee chose to jump off that effort and developed the theme "Volunteers are our greatest natural resource."   I like the idea and developed this treat - it is a plant poke to be put in a potted plant.  Making the leaves of the tree from hands seemed to be logical to respect the hard work of the volunteers.  I made about 30, then they received many more RSVP's so I made 30 more...might be making even more as this school receives the benefit of many wonderful volunteers.  I love doing treats!

wedding shower favors

Hi all
April and May have been busy for me - doing lots of different favors for showers and special events at school.  Today I want to show you the favors for a shower that is being held today at school for a Raven's fan.   I was told that she is using Raven's colors in her wedding so I made the guys shirts out of a very pale purple marbled cardstock.  The dresses are also a (different) pale purple cardstock. I ran them through the Big Shot to get a dry embossed effect.  A purple rhinestone was added to the tuxedos and the lady's dresses were adorned with thin purple ribbon and a quilled flower.  Cool huh!
Here's a shot of the collection I put together..fun, huh?

These boxes are made from two Accucut dies.  If you would like to purchase some of these die cuts for your prom or shower event, just contact me by leaving a comment here or by emailing me at david.outen@verizon.com

Girly cards, cards, cards!! 4 of 7

Hope everyone is enjoying a fun filled Saturday!
Today I want to share a girly card with you that is soo sweet!
The stampin comes from the Tiny Teacup set - both the image and the words - and includes the Twitterpated designer series paper.  The colors are riding hood red and island indigo.

Did you notice that the adorning accent folder was used on the right edge to make a textured impression?  The ribbon next to it is the riding hood red pleated ribbon...so feminine!  Each of the teacups is enhanced by a different adornment - basic pearls, basic rhinestones, and cherry cobbler dazzling details.  This card is a great layout  (thanks to cindee wilkerson) and can be "worked up" in so many different ways...send me a picture of your version and I'll post it here.

Girly cards, cards, cards!! 3 of 7

Hi all
Usually when folks put together a card, they think about stampin an image or adding a detail as a focal point.  In this card today, we made use of a negative image.  That is, we punched out a piece of the top layer (which in this case was run through the textured impressions folder) and allowed the designer paper  to show through the punched area.
Some of the ladies chose to punch so there was white completely surrounding the hole, but I designed this card to blend the flower into the print layer.  Inspired by Becky Roberts.
Remember to check out my SU website (peggyouten.stampinup.net) to see the list or retiring stamps and accessories. Remember the accessories are first come, first serve while supplies last.

Girly cards, cards, cards!! 2 of 7

Hi all
At this time of year I seem to  hear of many "teas" being held - at churches and schools, to honor moms and volunteers. The project I want to share with you today is perfect for these events.  Check it out.....

It could easily be worked up as a party favor or as an invitation.  This card is inspired by one made by Wendie Waldman.
Be sure to check your current Stampin' Up!  supplies.   The current catalog will be ending on May 31st. Get your favorite items now before they are gone.  Check out my store at peggyouten.stampinup.net
