Stampin Up! at Open Door project #4

Hi Stampers!!

Looking at this project makes me think of the cool music the West Virginia University steel band made when they came to my son's school last week.  Tropical visions and tropical music...enchanting!!  This was the fourth card the gals made at the Open Door Cafe Ladies Craft night......tomorrow I will post the box they made to store the cards.

Stampin Up! at Open Door

Hi all
Here is another card from the Open Door ladies night class.  The trick here is to get your scallop trim border evenly matched, left and right sides, and to have the punched pattern begin and end in the same place.  The ladies did a great job!  A portion of the medallion is also stamped on the inside of the card in the corner.
Come back again tomorrow...I still have one more card to show you and the little box we made to hold them....and of course, the birdhouse treat we made too.  Have a great weekend...SOOO many of you contacted me to say you were going to be out of town...hope everyone drives safely!!

Stampin' Up night at Open Door - project #2

 

Hi all

My project today is lovely in its' simplicity, I think.  A single image stamped in Taken with Teal ink on a folded white cardstock...and adding the dragonfly flitting by...nice, huh?  The dragonfly is also stamped on the inside of the card and on the envelope.  I used the horizontal slit punch to make a hole coming in from the top of the card and in from the bottom of the card.  Then I wove the ribbon through the holes and knotted on the front.  The heart flowers are punched out of Apricot Appeal cardstock and are popped up on dimensionals.  Don't miss the piercing step to make the dragonfly's flight path....just be sure you open the card before you pierce or uh-oh!! you have holes all the way through!  This is one of the cards we will be making at the stampin session on Sunday!

Hey!  I'm like the Orioles...I'm feeling a challenge to hit the ball out of the park two days in a row.  I will try very hard to be here again tomorrow with another card from the class so pop back for a look.  I need to hear from you by 7PM on Friday if you plan to attend.

REMINDER:  check your supply of cardstock, ribbon and ESPECIALLY reinkers for the retiring colors.  You won't want to get caught without enough supplies of your favorites!  Once they are gone, they are gone!!

Open Door project #1

Hi all!!

FINALLY!  I have gotten a chance to post some pictures for you.  Did ya miss me? 
Tonight I am posting the first of four cards that the lovely ladies made at the Open Door ladies craft night.  They were a wonderful group of ladies.  Though many of them said they had not stamped before, I think they discovered what a great craft stampin' is!  You know....we love it because it is easy to do, fast ( I always love getting multiple projects done in one sitting), cost efficient (I love that the parts I spend the most money on are the ones I get to keep..the stamps and pads!) and they always look great!!  This card is a great example of one of my guiding thoughts.  When you want to send a crd but you don;t have much to say, put your image on the inside of the card and punch a hole in the cover.  Your one image fills the front and the inside in one fell swoop!  Now what you HAVE to notice about this card is the fabulous texture!  Gorgeous!!  Another of my many Big Shot accessories.  Love those texture plates!!

cradles

At the last minute, my coworkers asked me to make a baby shower favor.  I was short on time but never want to say no when folks ask for help so here is what I came up with.

This is the view of the end.  You can see that I stamped a cutie monkey on the end - I used all of the images from this set so each end was different.  I was trying to work fast, so I used staples to assemble the cradles.

The end of the cradle is a sizzix (non-SU!) die cut from a die of toast, butter and jam.  I think the toast did a great fake job for the end of the cradle!!

The body of the cradle is made from the milk carton die (I omitted part of the die).  the gals filled the cradles with trail mix.  When the party was over there were some left behind so we gathered them up for the pre-kindergarten teacher to put in her classroom for the little girls to play with.  They love miniature things so I am sure they will be a hit!

Baby Shower gift

Hi stampers!!

Well I think I have whipped my computer into submission ..at least temporarily.  Here (above) is the base of my baby shower gift.  I used some retired DSP with a primary color of  blue and covered both sides of die cut chipboard (scallop square die). 
Next

I stamped a group of page titles and mounted them on cardstock.  Then I attached mounting foam to the back. Finally...

I stamped some childish animal images and mounted most of them on a scallop oval   with mounting foam on the back.  I bagged all of this so the titles were on one side of a piece of c/s and the animals were on the other side of the cardstock and attached the bag to the album by the split ring.  My coworker can use the titles in whatever order she wants and pair them with the animal images if she chooses.  Not quite a finished scrap book ...but far enough along that she should be able to pop pictures of the big sister, grandparents, parents and baby.  It went together fairly easily (I did it all in one night) and she can use it as an album or use the scallop squares on larger album pages.

Baby Shower gift

Hi All
Wanted to share a new project with you tonight but my computer has taken on a life of its' own. It is late here and I need to hit the hay so I will post just one quick picture.  This is a decorated lunch bag for a coworkers baby shower tomorrow.  Both the bear and the carraige are die cuts - the bear is done in felt.  Inside the bag is a photo album "skeleton" - I decorated chipboard pages and connected them with a metal loop then included page titles and accent pieces .....but I did not attach the titles or accents.  The Mom can assembly it the way that she likes. 
I have been working on the favors (REALLY simple ones 'cuz I got very little advance notice...and they look cute .. I'll show you as soon as I figure out where the pictures went!!
