Xmas Stamp a stack, Pt 4, Project #2

Hi, Stampers!!

It's not too late to contact me with your Stampin' Up! sale order as the sale ends today! If you haven't yet ordered, scroll down to see the list of items on sale for 30-50% off - if you call or email me by 9PM today, I will pay the 10% shipping to me for you.
This project is a quick and easy throw together I tweaked from Jan Tink. I switched up the DSP and colors but the layout was from her. Can you tell that the joy ornament is actually inside the card? We punched a hole in the cover so the "joy" peeks a boo through to the front. Fun! The card hinges at the top. A pierced notch at the top of the ornament hole holds the silver cord in place so it stays centered - it is wrapped all the way around (through a hole pierced in the hinge) and knotted under the white layer.
Would love to hear you comments..post!

Xmas Stamp a stack, part 4, project 1

Hi all,
Hope this finds all of you re-energized after some time with your families and friends for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Of course, we always wish we had a few more days to play, but at least I got to stamp with some great gals today - hi ladies! Here is one of our projects, which was inspired by Leslie D Moore. I loved the color she used (sage shadow) but I didn't really have any DSP that matched, so I went with Bermuda Bay instead. I think I am the last stamper to get this medallion stamp but now that I have it, I expect it will show up many times - it makes such a quick card! This project is another example of Peggy being thrifty for you - the smaller bermuda bay layer was cut from the center of the larger bermuda bay piece - once you cut out the smaller piece, the larger piece looks like a picture frame. This strategy saves cardstock and may reduce the amount of postage you have to put on the envelope. The medallion center is cut from the larger stamped piece - you can do this because of the addition of the razzleberry layer. I thinkwe may even have persuaded Donna to like this stamp a bit, what do you think, Donna?
Pop back each night ladies to see the rest of the projects from this stampin session.
The Ravens are winning right now...hope the game ends that way!!

hi hi

Hi all!!
I spent most of the weekend selling memento birchwood roses at the high school play to benefit the band boosters. Luckily I went to the high school prepared each night so I was able to stamp gift tags while the patrons were watching the show. I love that stampin is so portable and I feel good that I have so many tags finished for our Marching Band fundraiser at the Barnes and Noble at White Marsh in December. I'll have to share the give wrapping event dates and times so yo'al can come check us out. I haven't taken any picutres of the projects I finished but I wanted to pop on here and tell you to be sure and check out the big big big sale from Stampin Up! If you go to my website peggyouten.stampinup.net you will see the details - 30% 40% and 50% off - and some cool bundles. You can order on line through my website or contact me and I can input your orde. don't miss out on these great deals. Nighty night

An idea I have been waiting to try - jewelry!!

Hi all
I know is not a great photo but trust me this is great!! Wish I had the kind of job where you get to wear a blazer because this would look great on the lapel! It is made from fabric and the petal Big Shot die. I used a new brad making tool to make the button in the center. Some of my friends will be getting one if these for the holidays. Be a good girl and you might be one of them!! Next time I will alternate fabrics...this was trully an experiment! But I like the results!!

Holiday Stamp a Stack, Part 3, Project #5

Hi all!!

Fun... fun ...fun!!!! Isn't this little reindeer a dear!?!? too cute! I saw ribbon used this way on a card by Jana Weaver on the SU website (the demo part) and that is where I started. Patty Bennett had used the tag this way so I thought I would add it but it was not long enough for everybody, so I popped out Santa on a scallop oval. I used stickles on the noses of the reindeer and on Santa's fur. The greeting was done in craft real red ink and iridescent ice EP. fun!

Holiday Stamp a Stack, Part 3, Project #4

Hi all

Here is a pretty little card that started from an idea I saw from Kerin. I switched this one up quite a bit but thanks, Kerin for getting me started. I just had to use the oval frame and I hope you can see that it was run through the textured pick a petal plate.. Lovely texture. I whoopsed! on the olive scallop circle so I had to overlap the greeting to cover the whoops! But, heck! you couldn't tell, right? I love love love to play with my BIG SHOT!! The olive scallop circle is from the pennant die and the white one is from the hand held punch. I used the word window and the modern lable for the greeting.

Holiday Stamp a stack, part 3, Project #3

Hi all
I always try to include at least one religious card in my Stamp a Stacks - after all, isn't Jesus the reason for the season?
This card was inspired by a cute little paper crafting project I found (sorry! No name on the print out or the picture...is it your idea? Please let me know!) where the artist made the baby in the manger in a similar manner (I changed the colors and the star). I thought it deserved to be on a card.
The swirly flurry is white EP and the star is shimmer paper. The Peace is a sizzix die cut. Wishing you all peace!

Holiday Stamp a Stack part 3, project #2

Hi all
You want traditional? Here is traditional! Glorious green, real red and whisper white. Did you notice the very cool crimping that is done on this entire card? I saw this technique on Lee Conrey's blog and set aside her card to use later. Well later is here! ...though my focal point is different than Lee's. By folding the cardstock in a special manner, you can run the cardstock through the crimper and when you open up the cardstock, viola' you have this nifty look. The bird is a sizzlit from SUP. I like it!!

Holiday Stamp a Stack, Part 3, project #1

Hi all
We had a nice time today in my stampin session, getting ready for those holiday greetings.
Here is a card that was generally inspired by one by Mary Fish. She used more traditional Christmas colors, I decided to go a little more funky - melon mambo, certaily celery, always artichoke, and close to cocoa. The medallion is
embossed in white EP and layered. Check back each day this week as I will be posting the other stamp a stack cards...and some special projects too!
cheers!

Designer Paper Trees

Hi all.
I have been busily cutting cardstock all night, getting ready for my stamp a stack on Sunday. In the meantime I thought you might enjoy these nifty little trees, made from half of a scallop circle. Because they are made from double sided DSP, you see the contrasting papers. I really like them and hope to pop them onto a project soon. The tree trunk is made using the word window punch. Nifty!

Where'd she go?

Hi all
I here!! - just up to my neck in quarterly progress reports and my "observation". I did an inservice for the staff at one of my schools yesterday as my observation. Thank heaven that is over!!! I am NOT a nervous public speaker but for some reason, this situation had me a bit off my groove. I was concerned about it and spent many hours writing an revising. The audience was larger than I expected (actually twice as large as I expected). They were a gracious and interactive audience and they received my perspective well. Like I said, I'm glad it is over. Being true to my Libra ways, after somethng like that I am exhausted for days after. However, after a longer than I planned nap tonight, I finally made it back to my stamp room. I worked up another card for my Stamp a stack on Sunday and hunted for a die that a coworker needs. I hope to post some projects this weekend. Thanks for waiting for me!! chat soon!

MS tree CASED!!

Hi all!!
I am writing this on Saturday night..I should be doing my progress reports, but I took a break and here I am with a new project!! I am not a MS fan - sorry Martha is too big for her britches, in my opinion, so I make it a habit not to BUY her stuff. But I have to admit that she has good projects from time to time. Sooo I spotted one tonight at the craft store and decided I could EASILY make her $13 project from stuff I have in my craft room. This little tree actually stands about 7 1/2" tall. It was made from a 1/4" wide dowel rod, a 3" wooden candlestick, and cardstock. There are 7 scalloped circles - from the scallop circle die, the larger scallop from the scallop #2 die, the pennant die, the smaller scallop from the #2 die, the hand held scallop punch, and the last/smallest two are from the birds and blooms sizzlits. Each circle is scored, then folded, accordian style. I punched a hole in the center of each circle using my cropadile II. My Angel on the top is made from a portion of a small scallop circle, a circle and a small star (sorry ..the star is the wings but it doesn't show well in the picture). I think this little tree would be a great place marker at a holiday dinner table or a cute way to decorate your desk for the holiday. I didn't add glitter to the edges but that would give it a bit of pizzazz too. Sorry, Martha - I did it myself!

110109 Project #7

Hi all
This last project seemed to be everyone's favorite, hands down. This is not my original idea, but I have seen it on so many blogs, I'm not sure when the idea began, do you know?
It is made from sponged scallop circles which have been folded and attached, back to back. Yep! that is a cinnamon stick in the center with some die cut leaves and curled thin strips of cardstock to make my pumpkins complete. You can make them in various different sizes, but I like the medium sized ones the best.

110109 Project #6

Hi all
These little boxes have letters that spell out the word "Thanksgiving" (die cut letters and leaves) on to sage shadow boxes (from my large accucut machine). Imagine if you used larger letters and put one per side of the boxes...wouldn't that be a lovely display on a mantlepiece? The back two sides have nothing on them - left them plain so my gals could put SNOW on the back and use them in January if they want.

By the way I forgot to share my fabulous news!!! Remember I told you about my Accucut die that I could not find? Well, on Tuesday I checked the school where I last remembered having it but alas! no die. When I got home I came down to my stamp room and looked around, knowing that the die could only be in one area where I have always stored my dies. Out loud I said to myself, "you have to look in a different way, because it has to be here". And so instead of pushing some things to the left and right, I actually picked them up and moved them away and lo' and behold there was my die!! It had been sitting right in the middle - each time I pushed the pile to one side or the other, I failed to push it far enough to reveal the die! I did a happy dance when I found it!! Now if I could just find my mind, I would be beside myself with joy!

110109 Project # 5

Hi all
This is a nice card, rich with color, full of dimension from the layers and ribbon, and simple in design. The beauty of this card is that all the layers you see on the front were cut from the big layers underneath - lightens the weight of the card and avoids wasting your treasured colored cardstock.
I'm not feeling so well...I'm off to an early bed time.

Tilt!

Hi all,
Feeling a bit under the weather today so I am just taking a minute to say hi!
I want to give a shout out to my dear friend, Maureen, who I was able to chat with tonight. We are long time buds but admittedly, we mostly connected at work over the past 30 years. Busy growing families that placed lots of demands on our time always meant that we were most likely to connect over lunch at work or via email. Last January, the situation changed dramatically, and those touch points are not available as they were. We have had to alter our methods of connecting and I don't think I have been as adaptable as I would like. Shame on me! But the fact is, there are people in my life, especially Maureen, who cross my mind frequently, even when our direct contact is put on hold. Dear people who are treasured. I think I'll contact a few more of those folks this weekend and let them know they are dear. Maybe yo'al could do that, too. It is that time of year when families and friends reconnect. Why wait til Thanksgiving? Thanks for stopping by. . and hugs!

Thanksgiving Project #4

Hi all
I have always loved the sage shadow color and so I used some retired DSP to work that color into this project which has a soft suede cardstock base. We inked up the wandering words stamp and then used qtips to remove the soft suede ink from selected leaves, then colored each leaf with a colored marker. This adds some color here and there easily. I got a new tool that makes brads using DSP and you see that in the top left corner. Love the metal labels so I worked that into the top right corner. This card fits into a bill paying envelope.

Thanksgiving Projects #3

Hi all
We made a few cards during last Sunday's stampin session. I see now that this did not photograph too well. You cannot see the tiny polka dot in the background paper - but it is there! I used the wide oval punch on the dusty durango cardstock, and crushed curry ink is sponged on the edges of the medallion cut from crushed curry cardstock using one of the sizzlit dies from Lots of Tags. The whisper white oval is sponged and stamped in dusty durango ink. The layers are all on pop dots. The polka dotted crushed curry ribbon repeats the mini polka dots in the background paper (that doesn't show up so werll here..sorry). Simple design but striking in its simplicity, I think. There is something elegant about simple heartfelt thanks, for me. Thanks to all of you for visiting my online home.

Thanksgiving Project #2

Hi all,
Here is another treat box/table favor that the gals made at Sunday's stampin session. It has an acetate window in the front to show off whatever treat you would put inside - I had in mind to put nuts in there. I wanted to find a place to use this word stamp because I love the thought, "The truest measure of our thanksgiving is how we use the blessings for which we give thanks." Nice, huh?
The box is a sizzix die cut (non SUP) - I have always been hooked on boxes, treats, etc. Have to admit I was upset when I went to prep for the session because I had it in my mind to use another one of my favorite Accucut dies. The die has disappeared ..nowhere to be found. Now the extra long Sizzix dies are not cheap ..can be as much as $40 or $50, but the Accucut dies cost waaaaay more...many of mine were over $100. So you can imagine that I am upset at losing track of one of them. It is possible I lent it out, although I usually have folks use it here instead of taking it out of here. It would be a long trusted friend who I would hand one over to. Actually, I am hoping I left it at school - each year I make treats for the Volunteer Appreciation Celebration and I am hoping I left it on their Accucut cart. I will be checking tomorrow. Any of you into ST. Anthony? Send him a prayer for me okay? I want to find my die ...and I want to find my memory too. Old age!
Anyway, this little pheasant appeals to me too. Seems like just the right bird for fall. The vine on the Sizzix wood sign die cut is from the Fresh Cuts set - that one always reminds me of Irish clovers. Trying to figure out the color I used? It was some Kiwi kiss cardstock I had from last years In Colors. Sweet little box that you could easily fill with chocolate without spending a fortune. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving class project #1

Hi all - here is a quickie little treat box that would be a great place setting treat for your thanksgiving table. This box is based on the triangle box we have made before but I tweaked it a bit to give it a squared off top to resemble a pilgrim's hat. Wouldn't this be great full of treats - or with a napkin sticking out of the top (Terry, our minds run on the same vein!! scarry!) Fun little project you can whip up very quickly. We did six other projects too ...I'll be posting them through this week so pop back for a look.
If you hope to be part of the next holiday stamp a stack (part three) stampin session, contact me soon. The seats are already filling up.
