Butterfly 6

Hi all,
If you are the kind of person who notes fine details you might have noticed that I have been posting the butterfly class pictures in numerical order...until yesterday. I skipped number 6 and moved onto number 7. Well, that is because #6 was my favorite card of the class and I wanted to save it for last. The base cardstock is night of navy and the DSP is from SAB. I colored the pretties flower - Now I had read a note on someone's blog to lay the white flower on my stamp pad and squirt the refill ink in the center and spread it around. When I tried that, I got a dark color which I did not care for. So INSTEAD I squirted some refill ink in the lid of my pad and dipped my brush into water and added it to the ink and then painted the mixture onto the flower which was laying on scrap paper. The result was a much more satisfying gentle color. My gals made their cards from the prettier color. The leaves are a Sizzlit die cut. The butterfly is from Dreams du Jour. I really think this is the best card of the lot. Are you disappointed that you missed making these cards? Contact me ...I may be able to repeat the session for you and your friends.
Nighty night.

Butterfly 7

Hi all
Sorry, the color on this picture is kinda washed out. I used some retired DSP - I think it was called Four Seasons -to make this pocket card. It is hard to tell, but the base cardstock is certainly celery. The certainly celery ribbon is from the SAB bundle. The butterfly is stamped in pumpkin pie ink. The stamps are from Fresh cuts (vine), Flight of the Butterfly (butterfly) and Dreams du Jour (medallion). I really like cards with atypical folds.

Butterfly 5

HI all
More butterflys are here!! This one is done using primarily Riding Hood Red - ink, cardstock, ribbon and designer series paper. I enjoyed using the negative punch - the part that is left over after you punch out the scallop. The base card and the layer under the butterfly are Kiwi Kiss. The words are Curvy Verses and the butterfly comes from Garden Whimsy. Mostly, with just a few tweaks, this was inspired by a card on the demo side of the Stampin' Up! website made by Wilma Stern Cavalcante. Simple, but striking!

butterfly number 4

Hi all
This is another of the cards that the gals will be making tomorrow. The camera did not pick up the dry embossing (Big Shot and Texturz plate) very well. Also you may not be able to see that the butterfly is make from cardstock vellum. The colors are pale and perfect plum and sage shadow. This is a CASE of one of Lisa Martz's creations. Gorgeous, huh?

more butterflies

Hi all,
Tonight I have TWO projects for you ...and you know that means I had a fun night!!! Stampin... Stampin... Stampin... helped me relax ... must have been all those lovely butterflies. The 3x6 card uses the Great Friend set in baja blue, old olive and certainly celery. The standard card uses sahara sand c/s ...my stampers on Sunday will use bashful blue c/s and ink although here I used baja breeze. I think theirs will have a softer look. Enjoy!!

Teeny Butterfly thanks

Hi all,
Well I should be working on my reports but I had one of those "why did I bother" days at work and so I have lost my enthusiasm for working through the night again. I'd rather be stampin...so I did. Here is a teeny tiny butterfly on a card that will be part of my stampin session on Sunday. The photo doesn't show the bling on the butterfly and around the scallop oval very well...but it is there!

Hope you will consider joining us for a fun afternoon of stampin sometime soon.

Remy - after the clip

Hi all,
Well, I am still drowning in a sea of paperwork at school so I thought tonight I would finally post the "after the clip" pictures of my sweet puppy, Remy. He is a very dear pup with the family but kinda intolerant of the rest of the world. My sister is afraid of him and he seems to sense it. My in laws are more "schnauzer" people and so he calms a little faster for them. But when it is just the family, he is very quiet and dear. Silly dog absolutely LOVES carrots. I should have taken a picture of him sitting up to say "give me my carrots!" Try to skip giving them to him one night and he will hound you until you cough them up!! a vegetarian pup! Hope to get back in my stamp room to stamp (instead of writing reports all night) soon as I have some beautiful butterfly ideas to whip up. Come back soon!! Nighty night

stampin session today

Hi all!!!
Well, it was a busy weekend, for sure. I spent most of Saturday at a scrapbooking fundraiser where I had a table with a free make and take (see the calendar refrigerator magnet projects in the top row on either end). Then today, I had a stampin session in my stamp room - the gals made 8 projects as shown in the picture. Did you miss this session?..then you missed a great one! The gals were fun to chat with as we worked...although poor Patty had to cut out early when she was not feeling well. Don't worry Patty! We had your back...your projects all got finished for you!
Most of the session projects have been posted as close ups during this past week, and I will be posting the few that have not been shown close up in the next few days. I also hope to post some of the projects from next Sunday's stampin session where the focus will be on Butterflys! Hope you plan to join us. If so, I need to hear from you by Friday night.
This is going to be a busy week at school - lots of assessment reports to write and a few progress reports yet to do. Sooo glad to have my stampin to relieve my stress! Right now I am wondering if one of my schools will be open tomorrow. We had a major water main break near the school and there is a section of the area without water. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain all day which might make the repairs impossible. Time will tell!!

Quick hi!!

Hi All
Just a very quick note tonight to say - no surprise, I'm sure, I actually did change the project I am offering at the crop tomorrow. My camera is already packed in my bags for the big event so I will snap a pic for you tomorrow (it's so late/early, I actually mean later today!) The lucky gals who are coming to my stampin session on Sunday will get to make both projects!

Manhattan Navy

Hi all
I love the elegance of this SU/Sizzix Manhattan Flower die cut and it looks especially elegant dry embossed on vellum cardstock. The base cardstock is Night of Navy and the "white" parts are Naturals white cardstock. The inks are silver encore and night of navy. The ribbons are SU retired night of navy and silver. The stamp sets are Oval ALL and Gallery.
The trick here is concealing the adhesive - my adhesive is under the vellum where the silver ribbon lies. For the medallion, I punched two 1/2" circles (using our punch) in the vellum so that I could put a dimensional attaching the navy cardstock and the medallion. Effectively, it keeps the vellum secure as well.
This card will be part of my Sunday stampin session.

Hi all,
Well, Stampin Up! demos are all a buzz because today is the first day to register for our convention which will be held in Salt Lake City in August. I can't wait to get together with my stampin' buds from across the US and Canada...especially my convention bud, Linda!! Hi, Linda!
Tonight I have a note pad to show you. I will be a vendor at a scrappin crop this Saturday and I will be offering a make and take to the participants who visit my display. I think this is the project they will make - unless I get a more brilliant idea before then. The base of this project is the bag with scallops die cut (minus the sides) and the daisy #2 die. I used naturals cardstock. The daisy is sponged with yoyo yellow ink and the grasses are stamped in old olive. I love notepads - perhaps it's a sign of old age but I know if I want to remember important info - I must write it down. This would be a perfect pad for my purse. Hope you like it.

Mom's dress

HI all
Well I survived the first day back to school!!

Whipped a this quick card while watching TV and unpacking a SUP! box.
Base card is whisper white, then tempting turquoise, DSP, old olive c/s and pretty in pink for the purse. I used the eyelet border punch, the oval scallop punch and the curly lable punch. There is a gold brad on the purse. "Beautiful" is done in white embossing powder.
This is one of the cards in Sunday's stampin session.

Daisies for Mom

Hi all
Hope you all enjoyed a blessed Easter and spent your day with your loved ones. I did. My day was particularly nice because I knew that my dear friend, Maureen, was in her own home with her treasured family after being in the hospital and sub acute care facilities for over 3 months. Being home is a good thing!

Today I have a washed-out picture for you ..sorry, I have re-taken it several times and cannot seem to reflect the actual colors in the project...hope you can imagine the colors as they really appear. The base cardstock is So Saffron as are the buttons. The next layer is sahara sand cardstock. The daisies are made from confetti white cardstock and a SU/sizzix die, and the grasses are stamped in Garden Green ink. This stamp set is on the "dormant list" - which means it is not in the catalog but it is still available for purchase. The accents are photo corner punches in Garden Green cardstock.

Well the kitchen is clean after our dinner of pork loin and bearnaise sauce (de-lish!), parsley potatoes, corn pudding, and sweet and sour broccoli. The sauerkraut and cranberry jello mold (thanks Mel!!) were especially yummy today! Chocolate pie and Angel Food cake with Strawberries finished off the meal. Just prior to dessert, we played a game for scratch off lottery ticket prizes. My kids are way too old for the Easter Egg Hunt motif!

We have one more day off of school (though I have to go to a medical appointment instead of playing) then back to work. But not many school days left in this year!

pizzazz

Hi all,

Isn't this card neat? We will be making it at the Celebrate Mom stampin session on the 19th. The colors are kiwi kiss and regal rose. Notice the new white jumbo grommet and the corduroy button. Fun!
Look forward to seeing you there!

my sweet puppy

Hi all,
Meet Remy!!!
This is my dear sweet puppy, Remington, or Remy for short! My stampers always hear Remy moving around in the kitchen, above their heads, as we stamp, so I thought tonight I would show you a picture of him - pre bath and a clipping! Can you tell he is not happy to be in the upstairs bathroom? He knows that means a bath is coming and he is not happy about that!!! Looks kinda serious to me!! We survived the bath and the next night, the clipping. And bad news for him, he got another bath after the clipping. His hair is so thick and course that the first bath didn't really get to the business of cleaning him up well. Did I tell you that Remy loves to macrame? He must.... because he can tie the best knots in his coat!! He does not like it when I try to remove them!! I will take another picture of him now that he is beautiful!
Hope you have visited my Stampin' Up! website events page as I have listed the titles and times for classes for April and May. I will be posting details about each session in the next few days. I have a special session scheduled for early May but still have to work out some of the details. That will probably be the last session I describe. Tomorrow I will post the first card for the Mom's Day session...it's a beauty!!
Spent today cleaning and tomorrow I will begin making some of the dishes for our Easter dinner. We are a small gathering even when all of the family is here as both my parents and my brother are gone. We value our time together even if we are a small bunch. Hope all of you will be enjoying the company of your loved ones on Sunday, as well. The only bad news about Easter is that the arrival of Easter tells me I only have one more day off for spring break. But then, there are less than 50 days left in this school year!!

twin baby tins: Olivia and Amelia

Hi all, Here are a few pictures of the latest baby memory tins which I made for my coworker, whose daughter just had twins. These tins needed to be mailed down south while my friend is visiting her grand-babies and I thought they would be shipped more easily if I used these Stampin' Up! tins instead of the usual paint cans. (I have tons more blue tins, if anyone wants any.) It turned out that both tins fit exactly in the flat rate priority box. The tags, which I usually attach to the outside of the paint tin, are inside the box this time, in a pocket. I did that because I thought it would travel better and there really isn't any place to attach them to the outside, since the handle is ribbon, not metal. In this case, there was no theme from the nursery to use to spin off of, so I chose flowers as the theme. These tins should "hold up" over time because they are not too baby-ish. I was pleased with the outcome. Hope you like them too. I finished these last night - actually 3 am this morning. Earlier in the evening, I had finally finished gathering our tax data. whoo hoo! Now I hope to get some stampin' in tonight now that I have finished these time sensitive obligations.
Hope you are having a great day

040509 class projects

Hi all,
WOW this turned out to be great day in spite of a rough start this morning. When my son and I went to church this morning we ran into a huge traffic jam at the parking lot, mostly becuase the earlier mass was late getting out from Palm Sunday liturgy. We parked far out and hiked in but still managed to get our favorite seats. Yeah! The delayed exit made us late to meet my husband and my sister for lunch, which made us late finishing our grocery shopping. BUT I did make it back home before my gals arrived for my stampin session. Wheew! We had some nice chatter and anything that went wrong we blamed on Sally (we always blame everything on Sally - "Sally did it!!" especially when she doesn't come to class!! We missed you, Sal. ? Hope to see you next time ...then you can defend yourself!!). But just as the last stamper headed home, my cell phone rang and my convention buddy called from New Jersey to say SHE IS GOING TO CONVENTION. She has had a lot of stresses lately and didn't think she would be able to go ...but her situation changed and we will room together again - whoo hoo! I am a happy stamper/convention goer!!
Did you miss my stampin session today? Well then you might want to take a look at the eight projects we made today. Each of the six cards (3-12, 13, 16, 28, 29, 4-4)and the top note/scallop/embosslit purse (top left corner of group shot) has been posted earlier this week but you have not seen the scallop box treat (bottom left corner) we made. I saw the cute little punched sheep on Lauri Seago's blog and decided to attach it to the scallop box.
I have lots of spring cleaning and tax prep to do this week while we are on spring break but I plan to also do some serious stampin'. Check back to see if I make my goal. Right now I need to go read "Scarpetta" - I only have a few pages left in the book and I hope to get it back to the library on my way to my mammogram (ouch! ouch! - one for each side) later this week. Life is good.

Daisy die cuts

WooooooHoooo!!!
Spring Break is here!!!
What better way to celebrate the arrival of my spring break than to stamp up a little something for my gals!! My newest Stampin' Up! Big Shot die, Daisies #2, arrived yesterday and I was eager to give it a try. I also used the scallop circles #2 die. The cardstock is whisper white, pacific point, certainly celery, and barely banana, and the SAB Delicate Dots DSP is on the right side. Also, love those sweet buttons!! Under the button is a Boho Blossoms punch. The words are from the Echoes of Kindness hostess stamp set in pacific point ink. Ohhh..and the pacific point cardstock is textured. Sweet!
Tomorrow I hope to whip up some more fun goodies but first I am going to visit my dear friend (for thirty years!) who had a stroke back in January. It looks like she will be coming home in about a week - I am so happy to have her on the mend. This spring break is already shaping up to be a good one. I have several breakfast and lunch dates next week with dear friends (Hi! Maryrita and June and Darlene and the two Judy's and .....). It is nice to be able to relax and chat.
By the way, this card will be one of the ones we do at my class on Sunday...are you coming?

cheep bird pad

Hi all
My friend and stampin bud, Terry, recently gave me a huge stack of notepads to use in a project. She knows I love making treats and little do dads. Well, tonight I heard them calling me so I started making this cover. You know I am nuts of for my Big Shot and so it just made sense to use a top note die for the hinge of the pad. I thought the curly label punch was a nice closure - especially with a mini magnet to keep the pad shut. Well..then came the surprise! I did not know the pads were post it notes until I opened the cello wrapper. I love post it notes and these are big ones - 4 x 6! Cool! We will be making one of these at my class on Sunday at 2 PM...hope to see you there!
